Treatment overview
Microneedling at Olive Skin & Aesthetics harnesses the skin’s natural healing response to improve texture, tone, and scarring. Dr. Asheesh Dhingra uses medical-grade devices with adjustable needle depths to deliver controlled micro-injuries that stimulate collagen and elastin production.
This versatile treatment targets acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines, and uneven pigmentation. A series of sessions produces progressive skin remodelling, resulting in smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin.
Who is a Good Candidate?
- Adults with acne scarring, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or stretch marks
- Individuals with dull, textured skin seeking overall complexion improvement
- Patients who want to boost the penetration and efficacy of topical serums
- Those with early signs of ageing such as fine lines and mild skin laxity
- People of all skin tones — microneedling carries a low risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation compared to laser treatments
The Procedure
A topical anaesthetic cream is applied for 20–30 minutes before the session. The treatment itself takes approximately 30–45 minutes depending on the area covered, using a motorised pen device with sterile single-use needle cartridges.
Dr. Dhingra adjusts needle depth (0.5–2.5 mm) based on skin thickness and the concern being treated. A customised serum — such as hyaluronic acid or growth factors — is applied during the procedure to infuse active ingredients deep into the micro-channels for enhanced results.
Recovery Timeline
- Immediately after: Skin appears red and feels warm, similar to moderate sunburn; this is a normal inflammatory response.
- Day 1–2: Redness fades to a pink flush; mild tightness and dryness may occur. Gentle hydrating products are recommended.
- Day 3–5: Skin may lightly flake as it renews; avoid active ingredients (retinol, AHAs) until cleared by your practitioner.
- Week 1–2: Skin texture begins to improve; a healthy glow becomes apparent as new collagen forms.
- Week 4–6: Optimal time for the next session in a course. Cumulative improvement continues with each treatment (3–6 sessions recommended).

Frequently asked questions
How many sessions will I need?
Most patients benefit from a course of 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. The exact number depends on your skin concern — deeper acne scars may require more treatments than general texture improvement.
Is microneedling safe for darker skin tones?
Yes. Unlike some laser treatments, microneedling does not target melanin, making it suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types with a very low risk of hyperpigmentation when performed correctly.
Does it hurt?
With topical anaesthesia applied beforehand, most patients describe the sensation as a mild prickling or vibrating feeling. Discomfort is minimal and well tolerated.
When will I see results?
A subtle glow is often visible within a week. Significant textural improvement and scar reduction develop over 4–12 weeks as collagen remodelling progresses beneath the surface.
