Treatment overview
Dimple creation — or dimpleplasty — is a minimally invasive procedure that forms a natural-looking dimple on one or both cheeks. Dr. Asheesh Dhingra performs dimpleplasty at Olive Skin & Aesthetics with a quick, office-based technique that requires minimal downtime.
Cheek dimples are widely regarded as an attractive facial feature associated with a youthful, friendly expression. This procedure allows patients to achieve charming, symmetrical dimples that appear naturally when smiling.
- Adults who desire cheek dimples for aesthetic enhancement
- Individuals in good overall health without active oral infections
- Patients with realistic expectations about dimple appearance
- Those seeking a subtle facial enhancement with minimal recovery
- Non-smokers who can follow post-procedure oral care instructions
Dimpleplasty is performed under local anaesthesia and takes approximately 20–30 minutes. A small incision is made on the inner surface of the cheek, leaving no external scar.
Dr. Dhingra places a single absorbable suture that connects the undersurface of the skin to the buccinator muscle, creating a controlled adhesion that mimics the anatomy of a natural dimple.
- Day 1: Mild swelling at the dimple site; the dimple appears present even at rest initially.
- Week 1: Swelling subsides; soft diet recommended to minimise cheek movement.
- Week 2–3: Dimple begins to appear only when smiling, as intended.
- Month 1: Tissue settles; dimple depth and dynamics normalise.
- Month 2–3: Final result achieved — a natural dimple visible only during animation.
